This hiker's guide to walking in Lanzarote is the result of years of study and fieldwork. It aims to provide basic information about walking routes around the island so you can discover for yourself the wealth of experiences the island has to offer in terms of its history, culture, and natural environment. It has been collated and presented in such a way that it will provide and essential tool for walkers when planning their hikes. Given that nature is an ever-changing force, as is human interaction with our surroundings, it should be noted that some of the routes described will quite possibly undergo changes at some point. The climate and the jagged terrain combine to make walking in Lanzarote an activity that should be carried out with precaution and planning. For this reason, proper walking boots, adequate clothing and plenty of water are recommended.
